This statue of Mary, Our Lady of Grace, was first blessed as the Mother of Light on October 5, 1996, by His Excellency, The Most Reverend Leonard J. Olivier, Auxiliary Bishop of Washington, D.C., where it stood on Colton's Point in St. Mary's County, Maryland. The name reminds us that Mary is the mother of Jesus, the Light of the World (John 8:12).
